Landworks Sardinia
CAPRERA, LA MADALENA, ITALY | TEAM R. ZANCAN
This 10-day workshop focused on nature and ephemeral art; as participants from all over the world, were spread out on different parts of the island where these tangible signs of recent history appear and blend with a landscape full of questions and expectations. As we split into teams, our mission was to discover our individual sites and what made them unique, how they have changed over time, and what parts we could highlight and showcase to the others. What made our site unique? How can we portray a message through the art about the site and its history? What parts of the site can we utilize to our advantage?
My team decided to have several art works spread around since the site was quite large and had a variety of spaces, each with its own dynamic vibe. We set up sails to accentuate the visuals of wind; we used the existing rocks to create circles around damaged areas they were found; In each of the old houses we brought the outside into them as they had big doors. The end products were beautiful, and it was an experience like no other. Also being featured on their Instagram page was pretty cool.
